Stand Beside Her Month is celebrated annually in May as our nation sets aside this month to celebrate mothers and graduates, and Girl Scout councils nationwide celebrate our Girl Scout Gold Award recipients, honor our volunteers at recognition events, and watch as our current members bridge from one grade level to the next. May is the month where we all  Stand Beside Her.

Starting in childhood, girls are inundated with negative messages and behaviors that prevent them from building healthy relationships and ideals about their potential. Girls keep these unhealthy ideals and relationships as they mature into women. The negative competition and comparison formed on the playground and in the classroom carries over to the boardroom and into the home, preventing women from reaching their fullest potential.

Let’s create a world where all women and girls

are appreciated for their talent, strengths and uniqueness.
